Below are details of the campsites we stayed at and the costs. We found it
unnecessary to book ahead despite being there in the peak season and the only place we
had problems finding a site was at Lac d'Annecy which was extremely busy
but sites a couple of kilometres away from the lakeside had plenty of free
pitches.
All sites we stayed at are listed in the French Federation site guide
(official star ratings
shown) and those marked
M in the 2001 Michelin
Campsite guide which is more selective although we found many sites of
comparable standards. Pitch fees were for two adults and electricity (+e)
is shown as extra.
NOTE Fees have been converted to approximate Euro
values at €0.16=1FFr

stumbled across by chance as we meandered around.
Useful parking by sea
wall on left side outside ferry terminal, ok for night arrivals. Also motorhome
parking
west of the harbour but next to lorry park and funfair.
Meadow site
next to stream with some shade. The town, one of the "Beaux
Villages de France" is in a very pretty
location surrounded by cliffs with an old abbey and grottes.
Pleasant grassy site
some sloping pitches about 1km from village centre. Nearby swimming
complex and telecabine to Les DeuxAlpes. Good walks along the river and up
into the mountains and also an Adventure Parc for adults
Crowded site with many
statics on quiet side of Lac d'Annecy. Adjacent to Water ski &
Nautique centre with restaurant. (There
are many other sites around the lake but we saw quieter ones a few
kilometres away such as in Thônes
Partly shady site in
small village in wooded valley of Southern Jura. Near Nantua with pretty
lake and interesting A40 Autoroute with many viaducts and a tunnel
through a cliff.
Virtually empty site in
pretty village on canal. By main road with busy traffic returning from
night spectacular at nearby St Fargeau at around midnight (on
Saturdays).
Good but busy site in
a pleasant setting on edge of village in the the middle of La Forét de Lyons. Another attractive
place, one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France.
