ITINERARY
We travelled down to Dover and the Norfolkline crossing to Dunkerque then headed
southwest to the Loire valley at Angers. Continuing towards the coast we spent a
couple of days in the Marais Poitivin (Green Venice) region then to La Rochelle
and the sunny Ile d'Oleron. Travelling through gales and heavy rain for the next few
days we arrived in the French Basque region near St Jean de Luz, before heading
along the very wet Costa Verde of Northern Spain.
Looking for hopefully better weather inland
we passed through the Rioja region
and north back through the Pyrenees to France and Lourdes. We continued east
then south crossing the Pyrenees again into Spain skirting Andorra and across to
San Pθre Pescador on the Bay of Roses.
Turning back towards home our zigzag
route took us along the French Mediterranean coast then inland to
Carcassonne and northeast to look at the fantastic Millau viaduct before
heading through the Lot and Dordogne valleys to the Loire and finally
arriving back at the English Channel two months on from our start
