All the sites we stayed at in 2002 were listed in the French Federation site guide (official star ratings shown) and those marked M in the 2001 Michelin Campsite guide. Pitch fees were for two adults without electric hookup (enbranchement) which we hardly used this year (unless included in fee).
We also stayed at Aires at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse and Stes Maries de la Mer in the Camargue

Dieppe -
Ferry port

27 Eure

Useful parking area This year we stayed within the ferry terminal fence by the Transmanche booking office where there were other caravans parked for the night.

Muides sur Loire
Belle Vue

41 Loir et Cher
Pleasant site on banks of Loire. Grassy pitches a bit uneven but spacious. Barrier on gate needs entry card from reception office which is up a flight of stairs.

Les Trois Chênes

St Etienne
63 Puy de Dome
Site next to indoor swimming pool on edge of town. Flat hedged pitching areas. Good facilities. Some road noise and also noisy aircon unit at adjacent supermarket. Interesting town with museums

Le Voconce

84 Vaucluse
Site among vinyards a few kilometres south west of town. New swimming pool. Many statics and seasonal caravans. Bar and cafe. Hedged pitches with views of Mont Ventoux - very windy and croaking frogs in river nearby! Vaison has Roman ruins and large market on Tuesdays.
Fontaine de Vaucluse

84 Vaucluse
Aire in carpark by river with toilets and disposal points. Motorhome Aire de Service sign but also Camping Caravanning interdit sign! Short walk to town centre for access to Fontaine and other sights, gift stalls, paper mill (similar to Cheddar Gorge in UK).

Moustiers Ste-Marie
Camping Saint Jean

04 Alps de Haute Provence
Shady wooded site with a few static vans. A steep walk to the town centre with its golden star suspended between the towering cliffs. A good centre for visiting the Canyon du Verdon and Lac de Ste Croix.
Camping Les Pres

83 Var
Small site with many static vans. Friendly staff and popular with British campers who visit regularly. Town has old quarter with very narrow streets more touristy than when we visited about fifteen years ago. Interesting market some days
Camping Le Clos
13 Bouches du Rhone
Didn't see much of this site or area as it was pouring with rain all evening and pitch was surrounded by bamboo trees! Bar and cafe open in high season. Gemenos has nice fountains in middle of roundabouts -other than that ??
Stes Maries de la Mer
Plage Est
13 Bouches du Rhone
Aire is by sea wall a short walk from town centre and near large campsite which was virtually empty. Waste Disposal point is locked overnight and fees are collected by car park attendant who visits each van quite early in the morning. Good for walking and cycling along digue (dike) past lagoons and sand dunes
St Martin de Londres
Camping Pic St Loup

34 Herault
Site popular with English caravanners who apparently meet there the same time every year. shady pitches some static vans. Bar cafe in season also games room and covered swimming pool
Le Mouretou
30 Gard
Small tidy site with hedged terraced pitches in wooded valley on main road to Mont Aigoual from St Vigan. Good facilities but up steps for access. Outdoor swimming pool and Pizzeria
Le Rozier
Camping de Brouillet
48 Lozère
Large site, all touring pitches adjacent to other sites in town. Given site map on arrival and when we found our pitch had to report back to office. Fairly busy for low season in popular area for Tarn gorges
Beau Rivage
12 Aveyron
Shady riverside site (apparently voted site of year a few years ago) Restaurant and small shop. A few new static vans and new swimming pool. Interesting tables around made from old tractor wheels and seats. Short but steep walk up to old town with abbey.
St Cybranet
Les Cascades
Sarlat la Canéda
24 Dordogne
Pleasant flat site next to river and among fields and vinyards. Reasonable facilities and outdoor swimming pool. Good centre for touring the Dordogne near Domme and La Roque Gageac
Selles sur Cher

41 Loir et Cher
Small site next to river Cher. Good facilities but guardien left site at 8 pm after locking height barrier so no good for evening outings or late arrivals. Entrance re-opened at 9am next morning! Town typical riverside French workaday place virtually deserted in evening but ok for pleasant riverside stroll.
Besse sur Braye
Camping Le Val de Braye
72 Sarthe
Site next to municipal outdoor swimming pool with music playing until closing time. Good new facilities block. Office was closed Mondays but guardien lives on site so was able to book us in which took ages on the computer that even wanted to know make and colour of motorhome.  Town deserted in evening. Noise of nearby papermill during night but ok for overnight halt.

Lyons la Forêt
Camping Saint-Paul

27 Eure
Returned here for our last night before heading to Dieppe. Good but busy site with many "statics" in a pleasant riverside and shady setting on edge of village in the the middle of La Forêt de Lyons. An attractive town, and one of the Beaux Villages de France.
